8 Tips to Keep Your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions
1. Set goals. Start simple, then progress to longer-range objectives. Be realistic.
2. Exercise with a friend. Keep each other motivated.
3. Don’t diet. Diets don’t work. Instead, commit to an exercise program and eat more heathfully.
4. Visualize the benefits of your healthier lifestyle: lower blood pressure and cholesterol, more energy, reduced stress, increased self-esteem.
5. Make activity part of your daily routine. Put your workouts on your calendar, and keep your appointments. Take the stairs. Park in the farthest parking spot. Get moving!
6. Give yourself a break. If you’re not feeling up to exercising, take a day off. Watch a funny movie. Get yourself back in a good mood, then get back to work!
7. Reward yourself. When you reach a goal, treat yourself to a (healthful) present. Bask in the glow of good health.
